Girls Aloud announce they've split This is Bristol -- Girls Aloud have announced they are splitting up just hours after the final gig of their 10-year celebration tour. The pop princesses called time on their reunion with a tweet to their 100,000-plus Twitter followers: "We have now come to the end of our incredible time together". The message was sent just hours after the girl band came off stage in Liverpool. The five-piece - Kimberley Walsh, Cheryl Cole, Nadine Coyle, Sarah Harding and Nicola Roberts - reunited for the 12-date UK tour after spending three years on solo projects. The girl band's Twitter message, which has been retweeted more than 2,000 times, said: "Dear Alouders, we just want to say from the bottom of our hearts Thank you!! "This tour has been an amazing experience and the perfect chance to say thank you for being on this journey with us through a decade. "It has far exceeded any of our dreams and we hope we are forever your inspiration and reminder that dreams really do glitter!! "Your love and support will stay with us forever but we have now come to the end of our incredible time together. Love you lots." The band had previously hinted at a split after admitting they had no plans together after the end of the tour. At a press conference to announce the Ten Tour last year, Cheryl Cole said "we haven't actually made any plans further than the tour" before adding they would "wait and see how the fans react" before deciding what to do next. The girl band formed after appearing on TV show Popstars: The Rivals in 2002, and soared to number one with Sound Of The Underground. According to the Official Charts Company, Girls Aloud were the UK's biggest-selling girl group of the 21st Century. They released 22 singles in total and seven albums - five studio albums and two compilations. They scored 20 Top 10 hits including four number ones and had one chart-topping album, Out Of Control, in 2008. Their debut single Sound Of The Underground was their most popular single, selling more than 653,000 copies in the UK. Their comeback single Something New was narrowly beaten to the UK number one spot in November last year by Olly Murs' Troublemaker. Nadine Coyle, 27, tweeted yesterday afternoon: "I love you @GirlsAloud fans so so so so so much! You have given me everything! Thank you, thank you, thank you! All the hairflips, twisted ankles, early mornings, late nights, sore throats, tears & facing height fears are all to try and give you the show you deserve! "I have seen you many of you at the tour work as hard as us! That is why I cried last night on stage & probably tonight again. "Not sad, happy happy tears. I cannot thank you enough. I love seeing all your faces. Ok more tears. I love you all forever. Xxxxx NC". 'Girls Aloud' is this morning trending on social networking site Twitter. User @Gruffexterior wrote: "Farewell then, Girls Aloud. You were ace when I saw you at V and even better at the MEN Arena." Meanwhile @LauraaTweedy said: "Girls Aloud will always be a part of my life whether they are together or not". And @Ikissedasoldier tweeted: "I think its really starting to sink in. Beautiful Cause You Love Me is the end. The LAST Girls Aloud single. The Aloud generation is over." Reported by This is 9 hours ago.
