This is Nottingham -- A stranger has attempted to snatch a schoolgirl in Radford, in the third incident of its kind in recent weeks. The pupil, of Southwold Primary School and Early Years Centre in Kennington Road, was approached by a white man on April 16 who claimed to be a friend of her parent's and told her he was going to take her home. The girl refused to go with him, and instead went to meet her mum, who was parked in a nearby car. Police have since increased high visibility police presence around the school as part of their Stranger Danger policy. It is the third incident of this kind since April 1, but police are currently treating each incident separately. Southwold Primary Acting Head Teacher Patrick Betts said: "Fortunately, the child knew how to respond in this situation and refused to go with the man. I am delighted by her response in this situation." Parents, carers and children were all informed, and warnings were sent to other schools in the city. "I would like to encourage all parents and carers to discuss the incident with their children and ensure they know and understand the stranger danger message," he added. Another young girl was asked to go 'anywhere she wanted to go' by a bearded Asian man in his 40s or 50s, who tried to snatch her from her mother on Friday April 12 in Arleston Drive in Wollaton. On April 1, a woman described as Eastern European and in her 30s or 40s attempted to grab an 18-month-old girl in Wollaton Park. In each case, the children got away unharmed but the parents were left shocked and appalled. Police have begun enquiries after studying CCTV cameras. A spokesperson said: "High-visibility patrols have been increased in the area to deter crime and provide reassurance to the community." Suspicious incidents can be reported to police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
