This is Plymouth -- POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a 17-year-old girl fought off an attempted bag snatcher in Stoke. A white male lunged for the bag over the girl's shoulder but she managed to hold on to it and the mugger ran off after she fell to the ground. The attempted snatch took place at 9.10am at the junction of Healy Road, Stoke, and the male headed in the direction of Albert Road. He is said to be about 5ft 5 or 6ins and of skinny build. He was wearing dark grey jeans, a black coat and a black scarf around his face. He failed to steal the bag and the girl fortunately only suffered a minor injury of grazing to her leg. Anyone who has information about the incident can telephone Devon and Cornwall Police on 101.
