This is Sussex -- POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a 13-year-old girl was hit by a car and suffered a serious head injury. The incident happened at the junction of Southgate Avenue and Tilgate Way at 5.27pm yesterday (January 28). The girl from Crawley was taken to hospital where she is now in a stable condition. The driver of the Audi car involved, a 42-year-old from Bedfordshire, was uninjured. In November an 86-year-old man died three days after being hit by a car at the same junction. Victor Gibb was hit by a pink Audi A3 driving north along Southgate Avenue on Saturday, November 23. He had been trying to cross the road at the traffic lights at the junction with Tilgate Way shortly after 3pm when he was struck. Mr Gibb, of Tilgate Way, was taken to East Surrey Hospital with fractures to his hip and shoulder. He died three days later after developing problems following his surgery. The junction where these accidents happened is the next turning along from where a three-year-old boy, Ethan Mitchell, was hit by a car earlier in November, at the Southgate Avenue junction with Ashdown Drive.
