Nine Inch Nails' Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross will score David Fincher's much anticipated Gone Girl film.

Following their collaboration on The Social Network in 2010 and The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo in 2011, Reznor confirmed on twitter that the musical pairing would be providing the soundtrack for the adaptation of the Gillian Flynn novel, which will star Ben Affleck, Rosamund Pike, Tyler Perry and Neil Patrick Harris.

Ross has previously worked with the Nine Inch Nails frontman on albums such as With Teeth, Year Zeo, The Slip on production and programming duties. Although their score for Fincher's previous films have won the musicians an Oscar and Grammy for their efforts, in an interview with Mashable.com in 2011, Reznor explained his initial reaction to the idea of a movie about Facebook was one of reticence. "I got a call from David Fincher, who's one of my favourite directors, saying 'Would you like to score this film?' (I said) 'Yes! What is it?' 'It's about social networks. It's about the founding of Facebook.' (I said) 'Hmm… really? How can that be interesting?'"

Aside from his soundtrack duties, it has been reported that Reznor will also be closing this year's Grammy Awards, along with Queens of the Stone Age, Dave Grohl and Lindsay Buckingham. His extra-curricular activities don't stop there: Reznor has also joined forces with new streaming service Beats Music, who have recruited the artist as its "chief creative officer".
