![Police called as girl, 13, approached and followed by stranger in Tilgate]()
This is Sussex -- POLICE have been called after a 13-year-old girl was approached and then followed by a stranger in Tilgate. The incident occurred yesterday (Wednesday) in Ashdown Drive. The man was in a dark coloured car and asked the girl for directions, but is then reported to have followed her up Canterbury Road on foot. A post has been placed on the Spotted: Crawley website asking for anyone who saw anything suspicious to get in touch with police, who have been informed. The incident was not far from where a 10-year-old girl was approached and reportedly followed home in November. She had left The Oaks Primary, in Loppets Road, Tilgate, and was walking along Garrick Walk when a man came out of the St Bernadette Church car park and called out to her. At this point she ran off scared, but believes the man followed her the rest of the way home. After this incident police stepped up patrols in the area, with parents being askeed to remain vigilant. Yesterday's incident occurred at 5.30pm and the man has been described as white, 40 plus and greying with stubble, wearing a black jumper and blue jeans, and driving a dark grey or black Mercedes or BMW saloon.
