![Youth club volunteer 'used Facebook to groom vulnerable girls for sex', trial in Hull hears]()
This is Hull and East Riding -- A YOUTH club volunteer abused his position of trust by having sex with a vulnerable schoolgirl and exposing himself to another over the internet, a court heard. Adam Douglas, 19, is accused of having sex with a 14-year-old girl and encouraging a girl aged 15 to engage in sexual activity. Both children attended separate youth clubs in the East Riding that Mr Douglas worked at, Hull Crown Court was told. They were both described as vulnerable by the prosecution, with the younger one running away from home and being in trouble at school and the older girl being involved with social services. Rebecca Young, prosecuting, told the jury: "You may think there's a pattern here, of the defendant befriending troubled young girls." After helping to find the younger girl after she had run away, Mr Douglas contacted her on Facebook and suggested they go for a walk. This resulted in the pair taking almost daily walks around a village, the jury heard. In one Facebook message he offered to get the keys to the youth club so they could have sex in the office, it was claimed. The encounter never took place, but the girl's mother became concerned about the relationship when she intercepted a message allegedly from the defendant on her mobile phone, which said: "Do you still love me?" The mother alerted the manager of the youth club and Mr Douglas broke off contact with the girl. But months later, after Mr Douglas and the girl had attended a youth club trip to Hull and begun talking again, they arranged to meet at the girl's house while she was off sick from school and he was off work. Asked by Mr Douglas what they would do, the girl suggested performing sex acts on each other, the court heard. He is alleged to have performed a sex act on her in the kitchen before they went into her bedroom, drew the curtains, and had consensual sex on her bed. Mr Douglas then left the property by jumping over the fence at the back, the court heard. Mr Douglas began talking to the other girl, both through private messages on Facebook and in person at the youth club. One night, at about 1am while her parents were in bed, he sent the girl a message asking her to go on her webcam, which she did. Mr Douglas appeared on her screen, the jury heard, covered by a quilt, and said he was going to take it off because he was hot. The girl thought he would be wearing boxer shorts but he was naked and exposing himself when he took the duvet off. "She was shocked by that and asked him to put his clothes on," Miss Young said. "When he said no, she turned it off and went to bed." The court heard in later messages Mr Douglas asked the girl to have sex with him in various ways. After rejecting one request, he had replied: "Please, please, let me. Come on, try new things." Mr Douglas, who was 18 at the time of the alleged offences, claims he had not sent the messages and that someone else, possibly his friends, had been using his Facebook account after obtaining his password, "Douglas2". He denies two counts of sexual activity with a child and one of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity. The trial continues.
