A MAN who ignored a police warning over his relationship with a 15-year-old girl has been jailed for two years.
James Jackson initially had contact with the teenager over the internet, which led to the girl visiting him in Grimsby, a court heard.
Robert Underwood, prosecuting at Lincoln Crown Court, said the girl's mother contacted police because of her concerns over the relationship and officers served Jackson with a child abduction warning notice ordering him to end his association with the teenager.
Jackson was told the girl was underage but ignored the order, and four days later she again travelled to Grimsby to meet him.
The girl told her mother she was staying with a friend. The lie was backed up by a phone call to the girl's mother by a man claiming to be the grandfather of the girl whom the 15-year-old was staying with.
Jackson then shared a bed with the girl for two nights before they had sexual intercourse on the Sunday afternoon.
Mr Underwood said that the liaison was revealed as a result of the girl suffering an epileptic fit while at Jackson's home.
"She was taken by ambulance to hospital. Once that had happened the whole thing unravelled."
Jackson, 21, of Welholme Road, Grimsby, admitted charges of sexual activity with a child and child abduction as a result of the incident in April this year.
Judge Sean Morris told him: "You had sex with her knowing she was underage. I am quite satisfied that this has to be met by a custodial sentence."
Karen Walton, defending, said Jackson admitted he acted stupidly and should have taken notice of the warning given to him by police.
She said: "Emotionally he is a very young man and a man who is inept at understanding the long-term consequences of very serious decisions he has made in his relationships."
Miss Walton said the girl was five months away from her 16th birthday and consented to what happened.
