This is Exeter -- A woman who crashed out at a friend's house after a night on the town woke to find a man having sex with her, a jury have been told. The 20-year-old had drunk four pints at a pub in Crediton and gone back to a female friend's home for vodka and coke before falling asleep on a sofa. She told a jury at Exeter Crown Court how she was woke to find 30-year-old Robert Litster straddling her and making love bites on her neck. She was aware of sexual activity taking place but fell asleep again and woke to find herself undressed and sleeping under a duvet on the sofa. Litster, of Landscore, Crediton, denies raping the girl at a flat in the town in February this year. Mr Lee Bremridge, prosecuting, said the complainant had gone to spend the night on a sofa at a flat where Litster's partner lived at the time. He said Litster returned and he and the woman stayed up into the early hours watching a programme about Formula One on the television after her friend had gone to bed. He said:"The complainant fell asleep and a short time later woke to find the defendant straddling her with his knees either side of her and trying to kiss her. "She moved her head away and remembers him trying to undo her jeans and she wriggling around trying to stop him. "The prosecution case is that he went on to take advantage of her when they were alone downstairs and went on to rape her." He said the complainant had been out with her friend earlier in the evening and had four pints of lager at the Mitre pub in Crediton before walking home. The two women had some vodka and coke but the alleged victim did not drink much of it because it was too strong for her. They were then joined by Litster, who had been drinking at a party elsewhere and they played a strange game in which they pretended to punch each other. Mr Bremridge said Litster's partner went to bed and the woman fell asleep on the sofa while watching television, only waking when he started kissing her. He said:"She told him to stop and said his partner was upstairs but he said it did not matter. She tried to get him off but she says he bit her neck, leaving marks and bruising. "She tried to push him off but he started to kiss her on the cheek and she then lost consciousness. Her last recollection was him trying to undo her jeans. "She was then in and out of consciousness and remembers the sensation of sex before she blacked out again." She woke the next morning to find her jeans removed and left the house. She was upset and went to see a friend but it was only after telling her mother three days later that she went to the police. Litster denied any sexual activity had taken place but swabs taken after she went to the police found traces of his DNA which indicated it had.
