DJ Koen Allwood, 15, killed by car an hour after WildCube radio station debut This is Hull and East Riding --

A TEENAGER was knocked down and killed less than an hour after making his debut on live radio. Koen Allwood, 15, had been crossing the road in Barton on Wednesday evening when he and a friend were hit by a car.

Last night the girl, also 15, remained in hospital with what police described as "serious" injuries.

The Mail understands Koen had broadcast his first show on WildCube, an internet radio station run by two teenagers, shortly before the tragedy. Messages promoting Koen's show and appealing for music requests then appeared on Twitter, before a final Tweet by @WildCubeRadio stated: "Thanks if you listened to our debut show!"

At 10.50pm, Koen and the girl were hit by a blue Peugeot 306.

Staff at the town's Baysgarth School, where Koen was preparing to sit his GCSE exams, consoled pupils yesterday.

A school spokesman said: "Any loss of life is tragic. When it comes at such a young age it's even harder to accept.

"This was a popular young man with a bright future. Our thoughts go to his friends and family.

"We are all in a state of shock as we try to come to terms with the reality of what has happened.

"We are working with the young man's closest friends to identify how best to commemorate his young life.

"Our thoughts are also with the girl involved who remains in hospital.

"Clearly there is a lot of sadness within the school and we would request to be left alone to deal with this as the school community we are."

Flowers have been left at the scene of the accident, while Many of Koen's friends took to Twitter to pay tribute to him.

AmeliaPond tweeted: "What can I even say about him? He was wonderful, a really lovely lad.

"We were in the same form at school, we were in form together for four years, every day of school. We used to have little chats about Star Wars and Star Trek. He was really great.

"He was in his final year of school, and he was doing so well. Loved by everyone.

"The whole school is having assemblies and mourning in their own way. It's just awful. I hope you're at peace up there. #RIP."

Rosie Middleton tweeted: "RIP Koen Allwood. Knew you from primary and secondary!"

A Humberside Police spokesman said two 23-year-old men who were in the car were not injured in the accident.

Both were arrested at the scene and are helping police with their enquiries.

Anyone who saw the accident, or the Peugeot 306 shortly before, should call Humberside Police on 101.
