South Yorkshire officers reiterate appeal for information on Erika Kacicova's whereabouts

Police have reiterated appeals to track down a 13-year-old girl who has been missing from her home in Sheffield for a week, saying the disappearance is out of character and that they are increasingly worried for her welfare.

South Yorkshire police also issued a new picture of Erika Kacicova, who went missing around 4pm last Monday, 4 August. Officers believe she could be staying in Bradford, but there have been no definite news of the girl.

Detective Inspector Helen Tate said police had been told about "various" sightings of Erica during Sunday, but that none were confirmed.

She said: "It is out of character for Erika to be away from home for so long. We are getting increasingly concerned for her welfare as time goes on. Erika is only 13, she is young and a normal teenager, who listens to music and spends time with her family and friends. We want her to return safe and well."

Around 50 police staff were working on the case, Tate said, and the force had received dozens of calls. She added: "Erika has two younger siblings, a brother and a sister. They, along with her parents, are distraught at her disappearance.

"Erika, if you are reading this, please let us know you are okay. You're not in any trouble; we just need to know you are safe and well."

Police are focusing their hunt for the girl, from Darnall in Sheffield, on Bradford, and believe she could possibly be staying with friends there.

Erica, who speaks English with an eastern European accent, as well as Slovenian, is described as being about 4ft 11ins tall, slim build, with long, straight dark brown hair and brown eyes. When she disappeared she was wearing jeans, a denim short-sleeved top and a pink Adidas-branded hooded top.

Anyone with information about the girl is asked to call police on 101. Reported by guardian.co.uk 13 hours ago.
