She is a feminist yet tomboyish, classy yet bindaas, delicate yet bold. She is a complete power packed performer by herself. Anushka, who made her smashing debut in Bollywood as the girl next door in ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’ in 2008, has surely come a long way.  Anushka has essayed a variety of roles, showcasing her immense talent in her nine-year-long career, ‘Band Baaja Baarat’ (2010), ‘PK’ (2014), ‘NH 10’ (2015), ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ (2016), ‘Sultan’ (2016) and ‘Phillauri’ (2017) to name a few. During her childhood, Anushka used to collect toffee wrappers and used to put them in little shoe boxes. One day her mother opened these boxes to see what was inside and that was the time she stopped doing it. She loves eating Cerelac. Despite being a newcomer, Anushka refused to take an impromptu screen test for ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’ and asked YRF that she needed a day to prepare herself. Minor rape case: Accused traced, claim police

Three days after a seven-year-old girl was found dumped in a pit in a semi-conscious state near her relative's place - where she had come to attend a wedding from Punjab - the Uttar Pradesh Police claim to have traced the accused and are also bringing him to Delhi. Cops say the accused, who is a distant relative of the girl's family, had run off to stay with his brother in Maharashtra — after committing the barbaric act.

The young girl has been on a ventilator since she was brought to Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital in Delhi on Friday morning. The family had been informed that she is critical and even if she survives, the recovery will take a long time.

"Doctors says she is still not stable, and is fighting for life. Everyone is praying. I have been informed that the police have tracked down the accused. I wish for a torturous punishment for this animal so that others like him get a lesson too," said the father.

The 35-year-old accused hails from Baghpat in Uttar Pradesh and had come to attend the wedding with his parents and brothers in the Loni area of Ghaziabad district. A night before the wedding, he had lured the child away, taken her to a secluded place — just a few hundred meters away from the wedding venue — and raped her.

UP panchayat's bizarre formula to control crime

$

A panchayat in Uttar Pradeshs Mathura district, about 400 kilometres from here, has come out with a bizarre formula to control crime in its village.

The crime control formula of the panchayat in Madora village in the district essentially comprised imposition of monetary penalty on the offenders. What constituted an offense would off course be decided by the panchayat.

As per the formula a fine of Rs. 21 thousand would be imposed on the girl, if she was found to be speaking to someone on her cell phone while walking in the lanes of the village. It will help check crimes against women, said a panchayat member.

Those guilty of slaughtering cow would have to cough up a fine of rs. two lakh while any one, who was found selling liquor, would have to pay rs. 1.11 lakh as fine, reports said.

Fines would also be imposed on those roaming in the lanes of the village in inebriated condition or if they committed fraud with someone.

A fine of rs. 51 thousand would be imposed on those, who did not heed the advice of the senior members of the panchayat or a reputed person. The panchayat has, however, not defined a reputed person.

Village pradhan (chief) Usman said that five committees had been formed in the village to control crimes of different nature. There would be a high powered committee over and above the five committees and its decision would be final.

If the committees and the super committee failed to rein in the offenders then police would be informed, Usman said.

The pradhan said that the decisions had been taken unanimously in a meeting of the members a couple of days back and expressed confidence that the measures would help check crime in the village.

We hope others will follow us if we succeed, he added. Reported by Deccan Herald 7 hours ago.
