81-year-old Boston man sexually abused young girl making her life 'a living hell' This is Lincolnshire --

AN 81-YEAR-OLD Boston man sexually abused a young girl making her life "a living hell", Lincoln Crown Court was told.

Brian Simpson carried out a number of assaults on the girl starting when she was just nine.

Phil Howes, prosecuting, said that when the allegations came to light Simpson was confronted by the girl's family who accused him of being a paedophile.

Simpson replied that he did not see himself as a paedophile.

Mr Howes said that Simpson indecently touched the girl and on one occasion asked her for sex.

He told the court that the victim's life had been severely affected by what happened adding: "She describes him as a selfish monster who only cared about himself."

Simpson, 81, of London Road, Boston, admitted three charges of indecent assault and four charges of indecency with a child.

He was jailed for 18 months and placed on the sex offenders' register for 10 years.

Recorder William Harbage QC told him "Your conduct was offensive and repulsive to all right-minded people. You may not see yourself as a paedophile but it is difficult to view you in any other way. She was an innocent girl and you corrupted her. She talks about her young years being a living hell. These offences are serious and only a custodial sentence is appropriate."

Jonathon Dee, defending, said "His sordid and disgusting past has caught up with him. It has taken it out of him. He is not a sprightly 81-year-old.

"Whilst what he did was appalling once he was confronted he has not sought in any way to deny it and he made a full and frank confession." Reported by This is 4 hours ago.
