Family pays tribute to woman found dead in flat

WEST HULL: The family of a woman who was found dead in a flat in the Avenues have spoken of their devastation.

Detectives launched a murder investigation after the body of Dawn Warburton, 40, right, was found in the flat in Westbourne Avenue.

A post-mortem examination found she died of "compression of the neck".

A 39-year-old man arrested on suspicion of her murder has since been released on bail.

Paying tribute, Miss Warburton's sister, Julie Thompson, said: "The news has devastated us all as a family and life will never be the same without her.

"Dawn was loving, caring, kind and thoughtful. Dawn always offered a beautiful smile to life, which will remain with us all forever.

"I will always remember the fun and happy times that we spent together, of which there were many."

Mrs Thompson also thanked people for their messages of support following Miss Warburton's death on April 13. Miss Warburton leaves two children, Samantha and Dylan.

BRIDLINGTON: Parents and youngsters are being urged to be to be vigilant after a report of an accosting in the town.

A 14-year-old girl was walking home alone along Hilderthorpe Road at around 10pm when she was approached by a man in a car in front of the Ford Garage.

The man spoke to the teenager and invited her into his car but the girl refused and ran away home where she informed her parents.

The man, who was driving a silver car, drove off after the conversation and didn't get out of his car or make any attempt to touch the girl.

The driver, or anyone with information should contact Humberside Police on 101.

E RIDING: A teenage boy is in hospital with serious head injuries after being assaulted in Brough.

The 17-year-old has had surgery and remains in Hull Royal Infirmary following the attack on Monday, April 15.

Police said the boy walked away from the scene of the assault in Balmoral Road but later became seriously ill.

He was walking along the street, between 4.30pm and 5.15pm, with a girl when he became involved in an argument with two men he knew.

A 17-year-old boy and a man, 48, have been arrested and released on bail.
