Trial begins of teen accused of raping girl at Plymouth party This is Plymouth --

A TEENAGER raped a girl at a party after ignoring her constant pleas to leave her alone, a court heard.

Tyler Heffron, from Little Dock Lane, Honicknowle, appeared at Plymouth Crown Court where he denies two charges – assault by penetration and rape – which is alleged to have occurred last year at a party in the city.

The girl – who cannot be identified for legal reasons – had attended the party with friends and admitted she had drunk three vodka-and-oranges over a four hour period.

A video interview conducted by investigators just hours after the alleged assault was played to the jury of five men and seven women, and saw the girl explain how Heffron had repeatedly tried to chat her up, pinched her bottom and asked her to go out with him.

The girl said she had never met Heffron – who the court heard had the nickname 'Gadget' – before that night and said she found him to be "full of himself".

The girl said that no adults were at the party and, along with alcohol, some other youngsters had smoked "weed" using a "bong".

On the video the girl said Heffron "kept asking me if I had had sex before" and noted that he "looked like he had done too much drink or too much drugs".

She said she had told 18-year-old Heffron she did not like him grabbing her and later, having previously agreed it with the young host, she had gone to bed on her own, fully clothed.

A few minutes later as she dozed she was aware of a person getting into bed behind her. As the person began to pull down her tights – ripping them – and her knickers she turned to see Heffron. She said she repeatedly told him to stop and leave her alone.

As he sexually assaulted and then raped her she said he "kept saying I was pretty and I wasn't like all the other girls who were sluts".

She said he lifted her onto him, adding: "I told him to stop. I didn't know what to do.

"I got really panicky. I thought I'd better get off him in case something bad happens. I don't think he was using a condom.

"I didn't want to do it anyway. I'm not that kind of girl. I'm not going to get it on with a boy I just met. Everyone knows I'm not like that."

She said she fled the room and went to the toilet where she noticed blood and felt pain. She told two female friends Heffron had sex with her "without my permission" and got a male friend to take her home where she told her mother, who in turn called police.

During cross examination, often fighting back tears, she repeatedly denied she was lying and strongly denied she had made "noises indicating it was pleasurable".

When told by defence barrister Oliver Willmott she could have "got off of him at any time" she said she did not as she was "in fear".

The trial continues. Reported by This is 17 hours ago.
