
Royce Mackett, originally from Lydd on Romney Marsh, had denied raping the girl when she was only nine and two other charges of indecent assault.
He was found guilty of all three offences at a four-week trial in January and was sentenced today at Canterbury crown court.
The assaults took place while Mackett, 53, was living in the Hythe area between 1994-1997.
His victim didn't report the attacks until September 2011 which started a lengthy police investigation.
Detectives eventually interviewed 18 witnesses and Mackett was eventually charged in March 2012.
