A DEPUTY Chief Constable who highlighted on national news the plight of a 16-year-old girl with mental health issues kept in police cells in Torquay has been praised by an MP. Assistant Devon and Cornwall Chief Constable Paul Netherton spoke of his frustration of officers having to look after the schoolgirl in cells in Torquay for around 36 hours as officers said they had been told no mental health beds were available for her across the country.
