Police are warning residents in Braunton to be vigilant after a 15-year-old girl was approached by a man and asked to get into his car.
A dark Citroen Saxo-type car stopped alongside the girl who was walking on the little bridge between Poyers and Vellator Way at around 8.45pm on Tuesday 25 November.
The driver, believed to be in his 60s with short grey hair, spoke to the teenager and asked her where she was going. He asked her to get in the car and when the girl refused he drove off towards Tesco.
PC Malcolm Kirk, neighbourhood beat manager for Braunton, said: “Officers have made enquiries into this incident and we are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
"We are advising residents to be vigilant and report any further incidents to police with as much information as possible, including the make and model of the vehicle, the registration number and a description of the suspect.”
