Hit-and-run driver leaves girl, six, lying in Leicester street

Police are hunting a hit-and-run driver who left a six-year-old girl lying in the road with a broken leg.The motorist hit the child as she was crossing Maidstone Road, Highfields, Leicester, to get to a playground near her home.People in the street at the time said yesterday the motorist drove away after hitting the girl – and did not even get out of his car to check she was okay. Police have confirmed the driver did not stop at the scene.The child was taken to Leicester Royal Infirmary... Reported by Leicester Mercury 4 hours ago.
