On Mitchell Pearce; the race for the five-eighth jersey; stakes high for Griffin; Benji the Dragon saviour; the Game's Greatest Thinker* *Mitchell Pearce wont play this weekend for the Sydney Roosters after his personal production of The Girl in the Yellow Dress saw him barred for a week, leaving a slight crack for Adam Reynolds, Jarrod Mullen and Trent Hodkinson to win the NSW halfback jumper in round 10. Pearce will become the second-most capped Blues halfback of all-time if he sees out this series just pause and think about that for a minute and he almost certainly will considering the deep love and affection successive NSW coaches have had for him despite a 3-9 record on the interstate stage. That is unless we see another Othellian move from Pearce. He may prefer the quick option and self-sabotage his selection hopes rather than endure another death by a thousand cuts his game dissected, his record broken down, his failings exposed for the next two months. Pearces reckless behaviour last weekend certainly suggested that he has plenty of fear and loathing about donning the No7 again.
