This is Lincolnshire -- Offering sympathy to a drunken fellow clubber in the early hours has led to the ultimate shock discovery for Lincoln party girl Sophie Reynolds - who found another girl's engagement ring in her bag. Now the 23-year-old professional has sobered up, her immediate aim is to trace the mystery blonde who abruptly handed the gold and pearl band over during a rant about her alleged unfaithful fiancee. All the popular purchasing administrator can recall about the end-of-night incident is that it happened in a fast food outlet at nearly 4.30am on Sunday morning. She knows she provided a shoulder to cry on when the unknown girl spoke to her in the Charcoal Grill takeaway in Clasketgate. But at 9.30pm the following evening the big shock came for Sophie, who lives with boyfriend Matt Waite in the South Park area of the city, when she emptied her clasp bag to transfer her Saturday night belongings into her weekday handbag. "I have to say I do like going out with my friends, there's a lot of us and there can be 20 hitting the clubs when we're all out at the same time," said Sophie, who has been on the staff at Running Imp on Whisby Way for the past three years. "But on Saturday night, post-Christmas and New Year, there were only 12 of us celebrating my good friend Emily Buxton's 24th birthday,. "We were in Lola Lo's in High Street for most of the night and left after it closed. I was quite drunk and decided to go into Charcoal Grill for a takeaway pizza. "All my friends waited for me outside as I stood at the end of the counter for a good 15 minutes waiting for my order. "And it was then that this girl started speaking to me. She was very upset and said she was recently engaged and had found out her fiancee had cheated on her. "So when I saw she was crying I came out with all the girl-power stuff - agreeing that she should finish the relationship and that she'd be better off without him. "I do vaguely recall her taking off her ring, saying that she had done with it and said I ought to look after it for her. "All I know is that she had blonde hair, was wearing a black-and-red tartan top and spoke with a Yorkshire accent. She could have been a student or just visiting. "Either way, I looked at this lovely ring, which looks like a family heirloom, and the next thing I knew was she'd just disappeared. "But I must have forgot I was holding it because our taxi came and I found the ring in the bag's side pocket on Sunday night. "I really feel dreadful now because it's a distinctive ring which has probably been passed down generations of a family. "It's old-fashioned and will have sentimental value."
