Swansea hero pulls mother and child from crash This is South Wales --

MEET the shining knight before Christmas.

Reluctant hero Aled Llyr Price made sure that a mother and her daughter were able to see the festive season after rescuing them from their smouldering car.

The student from Gorseinon was filling his car with petrol at a garage near the M4 in Penllergaer when he heard a crash.

He sprang into action and pulled the pair free from the vehicle before paying for his petrol and going to work rather than receiving the plaudits.

His proud mother, Einir Price, said: "He heard screaming, a car had turned over and smoke was coming out of it. He ran over and a mother and daughter were inside.

"He managed to get the girl out but the mum had banged her head and wasn't able to get out, so he climbed inside the car, undid her seat belt and managed to get her out.

"I'm so proud of him, unbelievably proud, but, then again, it's typical of Aled."

The incident happened just after 6pm on Saturday, near Penllergaer Primary School.

The modest 24-year-old, said he had help from two elderly men and a lady, adding: "I was thinking about the Hollywood star Paul Walker dying in a car fire last week and it was beginning to fill up with smoke and I could smell fumes, I thought, this could go up, but the main thing was to get (them) out."

The student nurse, who was on his way to a night shift caring for disabled children, explained why he didn't stay around saying: "The ambulance came and I realised that I hadn't paid for my petrol and afterwards there were people gathering around, they didn't need me crowding them so I went to work."
