Toy donation will lead to a brighter Christmas at the Pathway Project This is Tamworth -- CHRISTMAS will be brighter for children in a Tamworth women's refuge thanks to a donation of toys and gifts from caring women dart players. Lichfield and District Ladies Darts League members have bought presents for children at the Pathway Project, the organisation which shelters Tamworth victims of domestic violence. It is an annual donation made by all nine teams in the league. League chairman Marion Toon, together with treasurer Alison Fisher and secretary Jenny Sawyer, wish to thank all of the teams for contributing. "We don't even have to ask for the presents any more," said Marion. "The teams just say 'when do you want them?'." Marion was initially inspired to support the Pathway Project after a visit to the Lichfield refuge. She was heartbroken to see a little girl there playing with a doll which had wire for arms and legs. She immediately returned home, took one of her daughter's dolls, and took it back for the girl at the refuge. Jo Billington of The Pathway Project said: "We would like to say a big thank you to members of the ladies darts league. "Especially as things are tight at the moment but these people can still find it in their hearts to donate – we are extremely grateful. "Women and children often arrive at the refuge with nothing, and there is no money for presents. "I remember the smiles on the faces from last year – it is lovely to see the children's excitement. "Without the donations it would not happen." The Pathway Project held a Christmas party at Minster Hall in Lichfield on Wednesday. Some of the presents were given to children there. The rest will be given out on Christmas Eve. Reported by This is 23 hours ago.
