![Review: Thirty Seconds To Mars, Capital FM Arena]()
This is Nottingham -- American rock band, Thirty Seconds To Mars last night brought their epic Love, Lust, Faith and Dreams tour to Nottingham to play for a crowd of thousands at the Capital FM Arena. Dropping the massive curtain branded with the band's triangular symbol depicting the elements, frontman and star of the show Jared Leto stands above the stage structure commanding his fans throughout opener, Birth. He plays to the crowd, circling the stage, at one point waving the English flag and declaring that he loves our country. Search and Destroy sounds epic and fills the arena before Jared halts the performance to get everyone on their feet saying: "Why are you sitting on your fat (bottoms) right now!? Get up! This isn't a Celine Dion concert." Chants of This Is War erupt before an onslaught of coloured balloons are thrown into the crowd and later cannons shoot out thousands of pieces of paper. Jared splits the crowd into three to sing the opening "oh" parts before picking a guy, who turns out to be from Derby, from the crowd to introduce the full song with pounding drum beats and anthemic lyrics of Do Or Die. He gives inspiration to his fans, saying: "I want to dedicate this song to all the dreamers out there who want to do something special with their lives. Don't give up" leading to everyone lighting the arena with their phones for City Of Angels. The charismatic singer returns with an acoustic guitar, taking requests before inviting a girl onstage, complimenting her on her Doc Marten's and old school T-shirt. Alibi showcases his impressive vocal range, even letting the girl sing along. Acoustically, Jared runs through fan favourites, Hurricane and The Kill with everyone asked to pose for an Instagram picture. "I won't forget this night for as long as I live," he says. "We will return to Nottingham," before a two-song encore, an effortless cover of Rihanna's Stay and their own track, Up In The Air, ending with hundreds of fans onstage sharing the moment with one of the world's biggest bands. Support came from You Me At Six who gave an impressive performance with highlights including, Loverboy, Underdog and new single Lived A Lie. Frontman, Josh Franceschi teased the crowd announcing: "We will be coming back to this very arena in April."
