This is Grimsby -- POLICE are appealing for information after a girl was assaulted in Grimsby. The incident is said to have occurred between 6.30pm and 7.30pm on Saturday as an 11 year-old girl was walking home along Harold Street. The girl reported being aware of being followed by another person and, when she reached the junctions of Stanley Street and Rutland Street, said she was lifted from the ground by the unknown man who approached her from behind. The girl alleges she was thrown to the floor and the man ran off towards Rutland Street. She sustained a sprained wrist and attended Diana, Princess Of Wales Hospital for treatment. Her attacker is described as being aged between 16 and 18 years, of slim build and around 5ft 6ins in height. The victim noted him as being of Asian appearance with short black hair, wearing blue jeans and a distinctive blue jacket with grey sleeves. If anyone witnessed the incident and is able to provide any information to police they are asked to call the non emergency number 101 quoting crime reference number 1999446, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
