THE mother of a little girl who was sexually assaulted by an "absolute monster" is urging others to find the courage to come forward and report abuse.
The girl was abused by security guard Jonathon Pick, 26, and was too scared to report him to the police.
Pick went on to rape another girl in a terrifying knifepoint attack on Christmas Day.
He has now been jailed for ten years at York Crown Court after he pleaded guilty to rape, attempted rape, assault by penetration and sexual assault.
The first victim's mum, of west Hull, has now revealed the girl blames herself for the later attack, because she did not report Pick earlier.
In tears, the mother told the Mail: "He is an absolute monster.
"She was too frightened to tell anyone. It is eating her up inside because she feels guilty for not saying anything. She is blaming herself for not speaking out.
"If my daughter had said something it could have stopped him. I don't blame her at all but I think children should have some sort of awareness at school to teach them about grooming and sex offenders to help victims to speak out.
"She was just so frightened and scared about saying anything to anyone. If it was talked about more then maybe children would feel they could talk to someone about it.
"I want to appeal to children going through something like this and urge them to speak to someone. They need to know there is help for them."
Pick, formerly of Bricknell Avenue, west Hull, assaulted his first victim on two separate occasions.
The former hospital security guard then raped another girl on Christmas Day, when he was living in Scarborough.
He targeted her when she was asleep and fled when the girl woke up.
She told a relative what had happened and they immediately called the police.
Following his arrest, Pick's first victim came forward to report he had sexually assaulted her as well.
Her step-father said: "It has been horrendous. She has gone from a bubbly nice girl to being withdrawn. One minute she argues with us the next she is crying."
Her mother added: The damage he has done to his victims is irreparable.
"She is not coping well at all. She is in absolute pieces from one minute to the next.
"He is cold and calculating. I can't imagine what she has been going through.
"It is horrendous what he has done to her. He knew exactly what he was doing. She is still so scared.
"I just want to urge other children who are experiencing this to please speak out."
Police are now investigating to see if Pick has any more victims.
